The Silent Descent: America's Spiritual Crisis in the Face of Political Choices

The conviction of the Holy Spirit regarding sin is a gift for which I am eternally grateful. As I watched the debates last night and realized that, out of 333.29 million people in the United States, these are the two candidates we have to choose from, I came to a sobering conclusion: America is indeed under the judgment of King JESUS. John Calvin once wrote, “When God wants to judge a nation, He gives them wicked rulers.”

I understand that Trump might be seen as the 'lesser of two evils.' He would likely improve the economy better than Harris, striving to lower gas and grocery prices to make life more manageable for the average American. This is why many level-headed Americans want Trump.

They know that a vote for Harris means turning America into Venezuela on steroids. It’s clear why business owners and free-market conservatives, like myself, favor Trump: we want relief from financial pain and suffering. But I fear that our focus on our wallets has made us numb to bigger and more eternal issues.

When it comes to the sanctity of life, gender identity, and the definition of marriage, Trump and Harris are on the same track—Harris’s train is just moving much faster than Trump’s.

“At the urging of former President Donald Trump and his allies, the Republican Party is set to abandon a decades-long push for a federal abortion ban and soften its stance on same-sex marriage in its platform…”

At the end of the day, Trump wants to win, and he knows that most Americans, beaten down by the far left on these two issues, have given up or conceded the fight. By ‘concede,’ I mean they’ve decided to ignore it and hope it just goes away.

Most Americans no longer care about these two critical issues, and this apathy is leading to our own demise and destruction. How do I know this? Because when we, as a nation, truly oppose something, we rise up and fight against it. Yet, we’ve failed to put up or articulate a meaningful fight on these fronts. Mark my words: Trump is as much a judgment on America as Harris is. The difference is, Trump might make us more financially comfortable on our descent into hell. Instead of sailing into the abyss in a cardboard box, we’ll have a nice house, a decent car, and a full stomach. We are comfortable and too full of ourselves.

This reminds me of the church of Laodicea in Revelation 3:17: “You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.”

We are currently experiencing the judgment of KING JESUS, and the only answer is repentance. It must start in the house of God. The church must repent for its apathy toward sin. We need a bigger view of who God is and a deeper understanding of the seriousness of sin. That’s why I began by saying, "The conviction of the Holy Spirit regarding sin is a gift." Do you realize how many people in America walk around every day, unaware that they are storing up for themselves an eternity of wrath and judgment?

The fact that God has graciously awakened my heart to the reality of MY PERSONAL sin is overwhelming, and I am beyond grateful for His mercy. This is why I share messages like this, hoping that men and women will also awaken to this reality, repent of their sins, and trust in the finished work of KING JESUS. This is our HOPE! Walk boldly and speak loudly in the hope that Christ will bring conviction and redemption to not only individuals, but to our nation.

God, help us to do what is right. Help us fall on Your mercy and live in Your grace!
